“Vriksh the theatre” presented Thespis 3 – the third season of the National Micro Drama Festival for theatre lovers at Kamani Auditorium. It was a day long function beginning from its inauguration till prize distribution and conclusion. For the first time in the history of world theatre that forty plays were scheduled on a single day with maximum duration of ten minutes. Inaugural drama for the edition was ” Kanpur- e- Kashmir” directed by Vijay Kapoor, the winner of last year followed by series of drama in different lauguages including English, Hindi, Bengali, Malayalam, Urdu.
The award for best production went to Badal aur dinosaur from adamya group, best director to Anurag Thakur (play badal aur dinosaur)(hindi), best actor to Manish Dimri (play chand ka pinjara)(hindi), actress- Lovely Raj (play badal aur dinosaur)(hindi) etc.
Vriksh the theatre’s motto is ‘Art for Humanity’, and it had been decided to pay tribute to the people who’s absence has created a vaccum in the world of art and theatre. Their name are Atal Bihari Vajpayee, Martin Neil Simon and M. karunanidhi, Alyque Padamsee, Kadar Khan, Ravinder pandey, Madhavan Nair. The festival is organized in the name of Greek artist ‘Thespis’, who is believed to be the person first to appear on stage. This celebration of abundance has bagged Best of India Records for the last two consecutive years. Due to its unique nature, questions related to this festival have found a way into competitive examinations for bank recruitments and Civil Service prelims.
