Ms. Erna Solberg, Hon’ble Prime Minister of Norway will be on a 3-day official visit to India between 7th – 9th January 2019, at the behest of an invitation from the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Mr. Narendra Modi. Prime Minister Solberg will be accompanied by senior officials and business delegates from Norway.
On 8th January 2019 Prime Minister Modi shall receive the Prime Minister of Norway at the Hyderabad House, where they will hold talks on bilateral relations. They will also sign an MOU on Ocean Dialogue, establishing a Joint Task Force on Blue Economy. Prime Minister Solberg will also deliver the inaugural address at the Raisina Dialogue & address Norway- India Business Summit.
India & Norway enjoy close and multifaceted ties and their Economic & Technical cooperation are important facets of bilateral relation between the two countries. The upcoming visit will provide an opportunity to both the countries to review the progress & discuss ways to further expand the multifaceted partnership in areas of common interest through energy industry sessions.
Prime Minister Solberg, in addition to participating in the bilateral dialogues &various formal engagements, will also officially inaugurate the new Norwegian Embassy Building on January 7th, which is registered as Green Rating for Integrated Habitat, by the Government of India’s national rating system for green buildings.
While designing the new embassy building, targets were set to adhere to the high sustainability and environmental ambitions and were attained by retaining the original compound and the overall architectural appearance. The new building presents a fusion of the Norwegian and the Indian design elements through its interior, its furniture, and the overall architecture, but is primarily characterized by its adaptation to the local climate and Indian environmental concerns.
On the occasion of the launch of the green building, the Embassy of Norway, shall also host an unusual gathering themed ‘Mela’ to showcase broad area of cooperation between the two partner countries and appreciate the progress made so far by the Indian patrons.
The Prime Minister shall also pay a brief visit to village Nithaura in Ghaziabad district, approximately 35 km from New Delhi, to celebrate villages accomplishment in areas of sanitation and education, on January 7th.
